Remembering the Lost
The Memorial records survivors who die during your run — whether lost underwater, sacrificed at altars, or offered to the Rainmaker through Worship. It is the emotional anchor of the settlement layer and a reminder that permanent death is central to DIVE or DIE's tension.
Construct the Memorial as part of the standard nine-building quest chain. It does not craft items or generate resources, but it completes the camp footprint required before Tier 2 upgrades and signals roster losses your remaining survivors must absorb.
Morale and Roster Planning
Heavy diver losses spike Morale pressure through the Camp Report. Pair Memorial construction with Fishing Hut treasure priority or Memento dives when multiple deaths occur in one week. Do not over-recruit to replace specialists — two dedicated divers with tailored traits outperform a bloated roster.
On Madman Mode, every Memorial entry represents a real roster hole with no reload safety. Track who died where in your Library Maps so the next Chief learns from the loss.
