DIVE or DIE Week Seven Update — August 16, 2026
DIVE or DIE week seven — August 16 recap after the sale, Hotfix #1.5 still latest, Metacritic 80, and new wiki pages for Rain Serpents, Crystallized Rain, and Journals.
Twenty-Six Days After Launch
Twenty-six days after the July 21, 2026 release, DIVE or DIE: Children of Rain sits in its first full post-sale stretch. Official Steam news and PatchDiff still list only two technical drops: Patch #1 (1.0.4.857) on July 23 and Hotfix #1.5 on July 24. No Patch #1.6 or Patch #2 has been published as of August 16.
Steam reception remains Very Positive. Early-August trackers already showed review volume past 256 (about 96% positive) after the launch-week sample of 114, with a recorded peak near 1,536 concurrent players. Metacritic still lists 80 for the PC release. Average playtime on those trackers sat near eight hours — enough for a first Idol route, not a completionist Graveyard clear.
Price After the Introductory Offer
The fourteen-day 20% launch discount ended August 4, 2026. Expect the $17.99 / £15.99 base on Steam and Epic unless a later seasonal sale or bundle cut is active. Deep-sea bundles with SILT, We Need To Go Deeper, and Abyssus remain listed — check regional pricing before you assume they still undercut the standalone game.
Demo saves still carry into the purchased campaign. Pair a late purchase with First 10 Days, Nutrition & Morale, and the Flood Day Planner.
What the Community Mapped This Month
Player guides published through mid-August filled several gaps this wiki now covers as dedicated pages:
- Rain Serpents — Idol-gated one-way gates; offer a Delicacy; one two-way pair between Crimson Basin and the Western Stalker Well.
- Crystallized Rain — late building material behind Flesh Masses after a biome blessing; Blood Blade or Gazing Moon beams.
- Journals — thirty fixed lore pages; the logbook sorts dates automatically.
- Dive Points — Diving Deck warps you must discover first, plus extra surface exits.
- Idol Powers — all eight active abilities and Dark Arts camp bonuses.
Chiefs still finishing a first timed run should verify Workshop equipment stats after every upgrade tier on Hotfix #1.5, then route Idols through Rain Serpents instead of swimming every shaft from the default deck.
Hotfix #1.5 Still Latest
As of August 16, 2026, Drop Rate Studio has not posted a new numbered patch. Reload soft-locked saves on Hotfix #1.5 before abandoning a campaign. Keep reporting remaining edge cases via Steam or Discord with a build number.
