How to Deal With Stalkers
Complete Stalker survival guide — lantern off, wreck cover, Flares, Beacon Jellyfish, Western and Eastern Stalker Wells.
Unkillable Patrol Beasts
Stalkers are large, unkillable monsters patrolling Stalker Wells. Your first encounter often ends in a chase — narrow vertical shafts leave little room to recover. Unlike Killer Algae or Rain-Touched, Stalkers require avoidance tactics, not weapon upgrades.
The Beastiary confirms Stalkers are attracted to light. Read the entry after your first contact, then plan Western Well (two Stalkers on Normal) before attempting the harder Eastern Well (three Stalkers).
Turn Off the Lantern
The simplest counter is to disable your Lantern while moving through Stalker Wells. Navigation becomes harder, but Stalkers stop aggroing from across the shaft. Hug side walls and move with purpose — hesitation still triggers nearby patrols even in darkness.
After blessing a Well, Beacon Jellyfish spawn and spotlight you. Kill them immediately with Knife or Nailgun before their beam completes and summons Stalkers.
Wreck Cover and Emergency Flares
Side wreckage structures break line of sight. Duck inside to drop aggro, then loot the wreck for resources and Eldritch Blockades (break with Eldritch Knife after blessing for Crystallized Rain).
Craft Flares at the Workshop after finding the Blueprint — 2 Carbon, 1 Silicon, 1 Plastic. Deploy a Flare to distract a Stalker for one minute while you swim past with Lantern off. Flares also illuminate dark shafts when used deliberately.
