DIVE or DIE Enemies Guide
All DIVE or DIE enemies explained — Killer Algae, Rain-Touched, Stalkers, Psalmists, Beacon Jellyfish, and Beastiary tactics.
Why the Beastiary Matters

Every new creature you encounter uploads data to the Library Beastiary. Read entries after first contact — they reveal light sensitivity, weapon effectiveness, and whether fighting or fleeing is optimal. DIVE or DIE has fewer enemy types than action roguelites, but each demands a different tool and route plan.
Early Biome Threats
Killer Algae — stationary plants that lash tentacles when you approach. Cut tentacles with the Diving Knife at close range. Clear them before opening sarcophagi nearby.
Rain-Touched — humans corrupted by Black Rain. They lunge from distance and overwhelm early divers. Use the Nailgun before they close. Do not engage without ranged gear.
Sanity Leeches — drain Sanity quickly. Retreat if Sanity drops faster than expected; zero Sanity ends the diver permanently for that run.
Stalker Wells Predators
Stalkers — large, unkillable patrol beasts in Stalker Wells. They chase divers who use Lantern light. Avoidance beats combat. See our Stalker Wells map page and dedicated Stalker guide for Flare distractions and wreck cover tactics.
Beacon Jellyfish — spawn in Blessed Stalker Wells. They spotlight you with beams that attract Stalkers. Kill quickly with Knife or Nailgun before the beam completes.
Event-Only Enemies
Maddening Rain Psalmists — appear during Chanting Moon. Killing them grants random permanent stat boosts. Send a combat-ready diver with oxygen to spare.
Sunless — guard Black Boxes during Black Moon. Strong weapons help, but route planning saves more oxygen than extended fights.
Deeper biomes introduce Eldritch horrors with unique patterns. Always check the Beastiary after first contact before farming the same zone again.
