Patch #2 — August 13, 2026
DIVE or DIE Patch #2 — Temporary analgesia condition nerfed (50% to 30% damage reduction), crash fix on dive returns, and memory optimization for certain systems.
Crash Fix and Temporary Analgesia Nerf
Drop Rate Studio shipped Patch #2 on August 13, 2026 — the first new numbered patch since Hotfix #1.5 in late July. The update addresses the primary cause of crashes on certain systems when returning from a dive, which the studio traced to heavy map-related memory allocations during dive return sequences.
Community reports from launch-week players indicated that dive-return crashes persisted even after Hotfix #1.5 on lower-end hardware. This patch targets that root cause directly.
Temporary Analgesia Condition Changed
The Temporary Analgesia survivor condition has been adjusted: damage reduction decreased from 50% to 30%. This condition previously granted near-immunity when survivors were injured, which players reported made late-campaign Infirmary management too forgiving and reduced tension during high-risk dives.
The nerf brings Temporary Analgesia in line with other survivor conditions and keeps injury consequences meaningful through the mid and late campaign.
Memory Optimization for Dive Returns
The core technical change in Patch #2 restructures how map data is loaded and unloaded during the dive-return transition. Systems with limited RAM no longer hit the allocation ceiling that forced a crash at the moment the game tried to render the surface settlement with all discovered map fragments processed simultaneously.
Reload any saves that crashed during dive returns on the new build before assuming the run is dead. Chiefs who encountered dive-return crashes on Hotfix #1.5 should update immediately.
